What a wonderful Friday it
was! I got to go to the Finnish mission reunion with my wife and enjoy
time with people I had served with and see Finns from my last ward I served in
before I same home. It was very special. We had many special
speakers there, two of which were of the first missionaries after World
War II to go to Finland and preach the gospel in the Finnish language.
Both men brought a special spirit and the stories they told really helped
me to be more appreciative of my time in Finland. When they started
they only had one member in Helsinki, who had been introduced to the
church and baptized in Sweden and then moved back to Finland. Now there
are two stakes in Finland and 3 districts. There is also a
temple. The work form those missionaries really did start the ball
rolling for Finland. I am grateful to have heard their stories. It
helped me to remember and understand a little better that we may not
always know how serving God will affect others, but eventually our labors
will bring forth fruit. I am very thankful for the opportunity I had to
be able to serve my mission in such an amazing country where the legacy of
those who went before me is so strong.
