This blog is for a class, so I
need to make sure to include some of the things that my professor has required.
I am currently attending BYU. At the beginning of the semester our professor
invited us to read a couple talks given by Elder Bednar, one of which I found
very interesting titled "Things as They Really Are." I liked
this talk because I feel that it really applies to our day and age. It
speaks about how technology has changed the way we live and it is up to us to decide
if it is for better or worse. He gives cation to not abuse these new
technologies such as video games, computers, smartphones, and the internet.
It became clear to me that there can be so much good that can come from
these tools, and at the same time there can be so much destruction to our physical
lives if we are not careful. I have been married for almost a year now,
and this article really hit home when Elder Bednar spoke on how these tools if
used improperly can destroy marriages. I am glad to live in such an
advanced day and age, and I am glad that our Heavenly Father loves us so much
that He has called Apostles again for our day to help guide us so that we may
receive the most happiness.
This talk also fits very well into
this blog about Finland because Finland is one of the more technologically
advanced countries in Europe. Nearly everyone has a smart phone and the
cell phone coverage is incredible. Nokia is also a Finnish made phone.
Finland has made very large contributions to the technological advances
of the world. Just one more awesome reason to visit one of the best
places in the world!
This makes me want to go visit Finland! Im going to Europe this summer so maybe ill have to make a stop there and it out!
